This reporting period commenced with the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge (TSHD) Pelican operating in the port undertaking Project C; TSHD Trials. The Pelican commenced work at Lakes Entrance on 2 March 2008 and completed the trial contract on 7 July 2008. The trial has been hailed as a major success by the local commercial fishery, charter boat operators and recreational port users. Gippsland Ports has not had to dredge the Bar since the trial; a period of nearly four months.
