Gippsland Ports’ ageing April Hamer dredge was remobilised onto the Bar at The Entrance on March 2 2009. 

Following on from the departure of the Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge Pelican in July last year, channel depths at Gippsland Lakes’ man-made Entrance remained navigable for an unprecedented eight months without the need for dredging.
